Our Story & Philosophy

Himalayan travel, designed around Manali

Dana Trails is a local-first travel platform built to offer transparent, on-ground credibility in the Kullu Valley.

The Legend of Dana Bazzaarr

In the heart of early Manali, near what is now the Mall Road, stood the historic Dana Bazzaarr. It was not just a marketplace, but the social anchor of the Kullu Valley. Local sheep herders, farmers, spice merchants, and early Himalayan explorers met here. Over cups of tea, they exchanged weather updates, path safety warnings, and warm hospitality before setting off toward the formidable Lahaul and Spiti passes.

As tourism grew, the industry became commercialized. Booking agencies in faraway metropolitan centers replaced on-ground conversations with template checklists. Travelers were left negotiating with transport unions, arriving at unverified hotels, and booking guides who lacked mountaineering certifications.

Dana Trails was born to restore that original market-square trust. We believe that to truly explore the Himalayas, you need to connect with the people who call them home.
