FAQs & Rohtang Permits

Learn about Rohtang Pass permits, seasonal road closures, packing advice, and high-altitude safety.

Quick Guide: Rohtang & Atal Tunnel Permits

Rohtang Pass (tourism): Vehicles visiting Rohtang Pass require a special permit issued by the Himachal Tourism Administration. Limits are capped daily, and booking opens only a few days in advance.

Atal Tunnel / Lahaul Valley: Visiting Lahaul (beyond Atal Tunnel) does not require a Rohtang permit, but local registration checkpoints are active.

How we help: If you book a customized itinerary with a private local cab, our team handles permit documentation on your behalf.

How do I book a trip with Dana Trails?

You start by filling out our 'Plan Your Trip' form or sending us a message on WhatsApp. A local expert from our Manali team will discuss details with you and share a customized itinerary. Once approved, you can confirm via a partial deposit.

What is your cancellation and modification policy?

[Replace with approved cancellation terms] Generally, we allow free modifications up to 15 days before arrival. Cancellations incur minimal administration charges depending on partner hotel policies.

Do you help with Rohtang Pass permits?

Yes. Rohtang Pass requires a government permit with daily limits. We assist all travelers booked under our stay+cab bundles or car rental packages in applying for these permits. Permits are subject to availability on the government portal.

What documents do I need to rent a bike?

You must have a valid physical Driving License for two-wheelers with gear, and a government ID (Aadhaar or Passport). We do not accept digital copies on phone for security reasons.

How does Dana Trails support the local community?

We employ local guides, partner directly with family-run homestays, and lease vehicles from local operators. We also run regular trail-clean campaigns and request guests to bring zero single-use plastics.

Have a specific question about Spiti or Leh routes?

Himalayan road rules and checkpoints change frequently due to weather and local regulations. Talk with our on-ground team.
